Study permit extension

Most foreign nationals need a study permit to study in Canada. High school student's study permit is usually valid for a year and post-secondary student's study permit is valid for the same length as their program.
Students should renew their study permit at least 30 days before expiration, but it is suggested to do so 90 days before expiry date.

Required Documents

1. Passport pages;
2. Letter of acceptance;
3. Proof of funds;
4. Electronic photo.

Entry Visa

While study permit is the proof of the student's status in Canada, other than from visa exempt countries, students are required a valid visa to enter Canada. The validity of the entry visa is usually the same length as the study permit. Therefore, you should renew the study permit first and then the entry visa.
